My cousin Erin just signed up to be a Discovery Toys Educational Consultant. The company sells really cool toys for children that help encourage developmental growth. For example, Discovery Toys has sensational learning toys to support the skill needs of children with autism. Discovery Toys products are more than just toys! Every one of their products delivers a ton of fun and builds up the foundation for future learning success and achievement. They offer an array of products that support the development of a variety of skills for balanced learning. I wanted everyone to know about this great new company and if you are interested in purchasing their products or hosting a party let my cousin know! Thanks!

Big Changes for Kai!
Just a little update on Baby Kai for those interested! On September 6th, Kainoa finally started rolling over from his back to his stomach and always going in the same direction, the right direction! Today we also noticed the appearance of little tooth on his bottom gums. Oh man my little guy is growing up!
It's Time to Stand Up!
“I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.” Leo Buscaglia
Our beloved friend Tonya who has become a member of our family in the last year just lost one of her best friends to a horrible disease, cancer! We only had the chance to met Devon once but it was through Tonya that we really developed our hope for Devon’s recovery. It is horrible to lose anyone we love, and there are no words to explain the feelings that we have right now for all those dealing with this pain. Please read more about Devon's life at: http://devonmarkert.blogspot.com/
My hope is that whoever reads this blog today will hug their loves ones more tightly today. Sadly each one of us will at some point in our lives be touched by cancer either by being the one suffering or by holding the hand of the one suffering. It is time that we as a nation step up and do something more proactive to stop this suffering. Please check out the following website to find out what we can do to help end the spread of this sickness! http://www.standup2cancer.org/

August ~ A Busy Month
We have had a pretty busy month in August. We have had our share of weddings (Marc & Tanisha, Jose & Jen, and Thomas & Tara), we went back to work, the boys are at childcare, visits from out-of-town family & friends, and our godson Gabriel had a birthday!
Work is going good, keeping us busy as ever. My group of 8th graders seems like a great bunch of kids this year. Kevin's AVID class are juniors this year and looking forward to taking college field trips. He is also teaching seniors again this year the subjects of government and economics. Kevin is only coaching wrestling this school year so we still get him home at a reasonable time of the day at least for now as wrestling season does not start until November.
The boys are with “Mama Yolanda.” Our childcare provider is amazing and both boys are in very good hands. Kai has adjusted to childcare and the battle with the bottle-feeding is a thing of the past. Kale loves being back with his friends, Ricky and Andres.
I have included some photos with this post so you can see just how big our boys are getting. Notice that Kai has decided that his thumb tastes pretty good. Cousin Gina and Matt came for a visit and met Kai for the first time. Kale loved putting butter on Gabriel’s nose for his birthday. (Old family tradition, the butter on the birthday person’s nose is supposed to help them slide into their New Year!)
Children’s Museum in San Luis Obispo
The day before we went back to work we took the boys to the newly opened Children’s Museum in San Luis Obispo. Because we have memberships to the Santa Maria Children’s Museum we wanted to compare ours to the new San Luis one. It has some interesting play areas and Kale enjoyed checking out the new adventures. We had to park our stroller on the first level and move around without it so it was a bit harder with Kai. But we still had a nice day. They are still building and adding more new areas so it will be interesting to go back to SLO in a few months and see the improvements. It was a nice change of pace and it was great way to spend our last day together before Kevin and I went back to work and the boys went to childcare.
