Life with a Two and A Half Year Old!

Just as Baby Kai is growing bigger, Kale is changing in his own ways. Kale is very loud and loves to show off his loudness, I like to say he takes after his Daddy. He is still having trouble with the big boy bed and will not go to sleep on his own without one of us resting with him until he falls asleep. He is also attempting potty training at home or let's say we are attempting and the process is going slow. He asks to wear underwear which I guess is a good sign. However, when we have given him the chance to wear them he has not always had success with making it to the potty on time. He is much better at the potty training at childcare so we know with time he will make the transition to underwear and no more diapers. He has also upgraded his choice of favorite toys, he is in love now with GeoTrax (Fisher Price train sets) and Daddy loves them too! He also loves to do puzzles and asks to work on puzzles all the time. He wants you to seat with him while working on the puzzle and don't think about helping him because he wants to do the puzzle himself. He is growing up so fast and as silly as he is it is a joy to see him journey through life!

Four Months and Growing!

Kainoa is changing so much. Last month he decided to start rolling over from his back to his stomach and trying to push off with his legs. His two bottom teeth have made their appearance and he accidentally bit me last night while I was nursing. He is making new sounds and practicing using his voice. We had his four month check-up today and the doctor is impressed with our little guy. Although he is tiny only weighting in at 12 pounds, 13 ounces and 24 inches long he is incredibly strong. The doctor said he is in the 25th percentile for height and the 15th percentile for weight. The doctor thinks he will crawl and walk early due to his leg and upper body strength. He is the best little guy so happy, sleeps through the night mostly, and rarely cries. He is such a total blessing and he has brought into our lives so much joy.

The Little Bears Fans!

Kevin, being the long-time Bears fan in the family, looks forward to the end of summer and the start of fall as that means football season starts again. The Bears have not always made Kevin happy but the family enjoys it days together celebrating each win and comforting each other during the losses. Enjoy the family photo of our two little Bears fans!

One Day in Los Angeles!

In addition to celebrating Kevin's birthday with a "Whose Line Is It Anyways" party we went down to Los Angeles for a day trip on the 13th of September. The purpose was to have dinner with family and friends at Kevin's favorite restaurant, Fogo de Chão (fo-go dèe shoun), which is a churrascaria, or Brazilian BBQ restaurant: http://www.fogodechao.com/locations/beverlyHillsCA.htm
As part of the fun that day we took the boys to the La Brea Tar Pits (http://www.tarpits.org/). The Page Museum is located at the Rancho La Brea Tar Pits in the heart of Los Angeles. Rancho La Brea is one of the world’s most famous fossil localities, recognized for having the largest and most diverse assemblage of extinct Ice Age plants and animals in the world. The museum does not take that long to walk around so after we were done inside we decided to enjoy the rest of day by resting outside on the grounds. Kale loved running up and down the hills located on the side of the museum.
Once we were finished at the museum we headed over to the restaurant and enjoyed a great meal with Marc, Tanisha, Rob, Erin, Lauren, Devon, Tonya, Chad, Becca, and the boys! The food is great and if you have a Fogo's near you check it out!
Looking back at this lovely day and meal means even more as a few days later we learned the very sad news about Devon, our dear friend Tonya's best friend, had finally lost her battle to cancer. Please read about Devon's amazing life (http://devonmarkert.blogspot.com/).

What's the message here?

So do you think that Kale is trying to tell us about where Kai wants to go or does Kale just think that we can be tricked into taking him back to his favorite place?

Cheesy Boy!

Ok so the image is not the best shot in the world, but if you look closely, Kale is trying to smile just like one of his girlfriends, Syndey! He was so happy when I was reading Aunite Erin's blog and Facebook page because he could see pictures of his girl, Syndey. He misses his girl and wishes that he could see her more often.

The Last Days of Summer!

With the end of summer fast approaching Kale was actually in need of a new swimming pool for the backyard. The one we had used all summer finally gave out and for those of you who have tried to search for pool toys at the end of summer you know that there are not much options left. However, we were able to find this great pool and slide combo on sale at Toys R Us. It was a great end of the summer find and fortunately for us we have continued to have great weather so Kale keeps getting to play outside!

Kevin Turns 30!

Last month Kevin turned 30 and we had a big celebration party for him. He has been wanting to host a party for a few years with the idea of having his friends act out skits sort of like "Whose Line Is It Anyways" style. We had a wide group of family, friends, and Kevin's students, and the fun was enjoyed by all those in attendance. Thanks for making it to the party for those who attended and if you missed out we hope you can make it to the next Ilac Party!

My Favorite Men!

The saying a picture is worth a thousand words is the best way for me to state what is most important in this picture. These are my favorite men!
