Birthday Traditions!

So some of you might remember this tradition either by reading old posts in our blog or from personal experience but in my family when someone celebrates a birthday we put butter on their nose! I know it sounds completely crazy but the saying goes, "the butter is to help you slide into your new year!" My Grandma Muriel is the one who taught me this tradition someone in her family passed it down to her and she continued the special treat with her children and grandchildren. I have to admit that I have enjoyed teaching Kale about this special tradition for two reasons. One Kale loves the idea of butter and thinks it is so much fun to have butter on some one's nose. But the other reason I love doing this with my children is I miss my Grandma terribly. She was one the most awesome people I have ever met in my life and she was so funny and brought tons of joy into all of our lives. Each time one of my family member's celebrates a birthday it is so great to put butter on some one's nose and to know that my Grandma is probably smiling and giggling up there in heaven.
