Join teachers, parents, students and community members and Stand Up For Schools on March 13, the deadline for teacher layoff notices from school districts. Thousands of educators are expected to receive pink slips -- or Reduction in Force (RIF) notices -- this year. In fact, 20,193 pink slips have already been issued! Check out the website (http://www.wearpink09.org/) to find out how you can help or show your support for teachers in the California!
On March 13, 2009 there were be rallies statewide to show your support for educators. For those nearby will you please join with me to show your support. California school spending #48 in the nation. Let's raise that score!
Elementary, secondary, and higher education teachers and staff members from Santa Maria, Orcutt, Los Alamos, and Guadalupe schools will be hosting a rally on Broadway in Santa Maria. Wear your pink tee shirts and let Sacramento know that $11.6 billion in education cuts is unacceptable to our future generation!
The rally will be in front of Santa Maria High School on Broadway. Bring your family, friends and neighbors with you. The entire community is in this together. See you there!
If you are unable to attend the rally with me, and live in California please find a rally nearby your community and show off your best pink tee. If you do not live in California but still want to show your support please don't forget to wear pink on Friday in honor of all those educators in your life!
