An Afternoon in the Park!

It's raining right now and that is a great thing since here in California we so need the rain. However, most of January the weather was great. I would pick the boys up from childcare and although the sun would begin to set so soon in the evening the weather was still so warm. So the other day I picked the boys up and we headed to one of the many local parks here in town. It was so much fun to just be outside playing with the boys. This is also the first time that Kai has gone on a slide and I think he really enjoyed seeing all the fun and watching his big brother run around the park. Enjoy the photos!

Randon Moments from Mommy's Birthday!

Many of you know how much I love sushi! So for my birthday party since it was held at our local favorite sushi place I ordered cupcakes from from favorite bakery (Gina's Piece of Cakes) to look like sushi rolls. Above is one of the rolls. I think they did a good job!

One of the oldest family traditions I can remember is a special event on one's birthday. I'm not sure who started the tradition in my Grandmother Muriel's family but we still participate in this tradition every birthday and continue to pass it on to new members of the family. On the day of your birthday you are treated to a bit of butter spread on your nose. The traditional saying is that the butter is meant to help you slide into the new year better. It has been so much fun teaching Kale about this family tradition. Plus it makes feel like my Grandma Muriel is still with us on our special day. Of course, Kale loves spreading butter on his nose. So if you happened to be around us for your birthday don't be shock if Kale spreads butter on your nose.

Feeding a Baby!

A few weeks ago we took Kale to Avô's house (Avô is my Aunt Maria's father and the word Avô means grandfather in Portuguese) in Arroyo Grande. My aunt's sister and brother-in-law raised sheep and they just recently had a new group of lambs. Aunt Maria thought it would be great for Kale to go check out the newborns. One of the lambs lost his mother during childbirth and is being bottle fed. This was a great opportunity for Kale to interact with the lamb and I think you can see from the photos how much he enjoyed himself.

Some Humor!

OK so the other day I captured Kale stealing Daddy's food. I thought you might enjoy the silliness of Kale. His new thing is to close his eyes for pictures because he is saying cheese however, he also closes his eyes for the videos too! We have been calling him Stevie Wonder when he closes his eyes. This video makes me laugh and I just felt we all might need a good laugh today!
